PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 1, 2023  — Leading GMP cell CDMO I Peace, Inc., specializing in induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and iPSC-derived cell therapies based in Palo Alto, CA, and Heartseed Inc. (“Heartseed”), a Tokyo-based biotechnology company developing iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes for heart failure, have collaborated to generate cardiomyocytes using multiple donor-derived GMP grade iPS cell lines by I Peace, and Heartseed’s proprietary cardiomyocytes differentiation and purification methods. Heartseed has successfully produced high-purity cardiomyocytes consistently from all I Peace manufactured iPS cell lines used in this study. This achievement marks a significant step forward in the realization of autologous cardiac regenerative medicine with I Peace’s personal iPS cell banking service (My Peace), to manufacture and store iPS cells, and induce them into cardiomyocytes for use in autologous cell therapy. Advanced Cell Models Usher in a New Era of Neuroscience Research
Neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease are caused by progressive damage to cells of the nervous system. Patients suffering from these debilitating disorders lose their mobility, balance, speech, and so many other important functions. Scientists studying these disorders need advanced cell models that have the physiological and pharmacological properties seen in mature neurons. [Read more…]
Stem Cell Therapy: A New Treatment Approach In Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurodegenerative disease with symptoms associated with impaired conduction of nerve fibers. The disease has an autoimmune nature with the own immune system attacking the myelin sheath.
Unlike other common diseases of the nervous system (dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease) MS is not considered age-related. Multiple sclerosis affects middle-aged people, both women and men, though more often the latter. [Read more…]
Chinese Patent Granted for CytoMed Therapeutics’ Licensed iPSC-Based Technology
SINGAPORE — CytoMed Therapeutics Limited (NASDAQ: GDTC) (“CytoMed” or “Company”), a Singapore-based biopharmaceutical company focused on harnessing its proprietary technologies to develop novel donor-derived cell-based allogeneic immunotherapies for the treatment of various cancers, today announced that its exclusively licensed induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC)-based technology has been granted a patent by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). When a Network Matters! Functional iPSC-derived Endothelial Cells Finally Arrive
Authored By: Aristotle Kayafas, Trailhead Biosystems Inc.
60,000 miles of blood vessels run all throughout the average human body (Cleveland Clinic, 2022). Mostly tiny arteries and veins, they carry life-giving blood to every part of the body, enough to make the 5800-mile round trip between New York and San Francisco close to ten times. [Read more…]
