Cord Blood Associations first appeared with the formation of a cord blood association in Brazil in 2013. Shortly thereafter, the Cord Blood Association (CBA) formed in the U.S. in December of 2014. November 24, 2015; HemoGenix, Inc. – The passage by voice vote of H.R. 2820, otherwise known as The Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research Reauthorization Act of 2015 through the U.S. House of Representatives  has been lauded by many in the cord blood community, including the Cord Blood Association (CBA) that promoted the bill. There is a good chance the Bill will become law, because health issues usually have bipartisan support. Although patients requiring a cord blood stem cell transplant have been helped by previous Bills, they have nevertheless not benefited from the principle purpose of this Bill, namely to provide high-quality cord blood stem cells for transplantation.
