Importantly, this transaction is not centered on a single pipeline candidate, but on securing a platform technology that could reshape how CAR-T and other immune-reset strategies are developed and delivered across autoimmune disease and beyond. [Read more…]
Big Pharma Makes M&A Moves to Secure Positions in In Vivo Cell Engineering
Across 2025, a striking trend has emerged in biotechnology. Major pharmaceutical companies are racing to acquire in vivo cell engineering platforms, signaling that reprogramming cells inside the body has moved from speculative science to strategic priority.
In just a few months, the field has transformed. AstraZeneca, AbbVie, Gilead’s Kite Pharma, and Bristol Myers Squibb have all made acquisitions designed to accelerate their capabilities in in vivo cell therapy. Each deal highlights the growing importance of technologies that can directly engineer immune cells without removing them from the body. [Read more…]
Ways to Curb the Sky-high Costs of CAR-T Cell Therapy
CAR-T therapy has revolutionized cancer treatment, offering a personalized approach that uses genetically modified T cells to target and destroy cancer cells. However, this breakthrough treatment comes at a steep price. In the U.S., CAR-T therapies are priced between $300,000 and $600,000, and when factoring in the costs of treating adverse reactions and hospital stays, the total expenditure can exceed $1,000,000. The high cost makes it inaccessible for many patients and poses a challenge for healthcare systems worldwide.
To address this issue, experts and industry leaders have proposed several strategies to reduce the cost of CAR-T therapy while maintaining its efficacy and accessibility. [Read more…]
Global Trends in Cord Blood and Newborn Stem Cell Banking
Today, nearly 80% of the global cord blood market is controlled by the world’s 12 largest cord blood banking operators. This is an incredible figure, given that the the cord blood industry grew to over 400 market participants in the early 2000’s but has consolidated dramatically since that time. [Read more…]
CAR-T Market Leaders in 2026: Leaders, Innovators, and Game-Changing Tech
Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has transformed the landscape of oncology, offering personalized cellular solutions for hematologic malignancies and expanding into solid tumors and autoimmune disorders. By engineering a patient’s own T-cells to recognize and destroy cancer cells, CAR-T therapies provide unprecedented efficacy, often in patient populations with limited treatment options.
The global CAR-T market has grown substantially in recent years, climbing to 13 approvals worldwide. Seven of these therapies have been approved by the U.S. FDA, with subsequent approvals in other major healthcare markets. These therapies include Kymriah, Yescarta, Tecartus, Breyanzi, Abecma, Carvykti, and Aucatzyl. Beyond the U.S., four CAR-T therapies (Relma-cel, Fucaso, Yuanruida, and Zever-cel) have been approved by China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), while two therapies, NexCAR19 and Qartemi, have received approval from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO).
