Combined Entity will be a Global CDMO Powerhouse in Cell and Gene Therapy
In a bold move that has consolidated the landscape of advanced therapy manufacturing, Altaris LLC announced the successful acquisition of two key cell and gene therapy operations—Advanced Therapies U.S. and OXGENE—from WuXi AppTec. Completed on March 7, 2025, the transaction marks a strategic expansion of Altaris’ footprint in the fast-growing cell and gene therapy contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) space.
The newly acquired businesses, collectively branded as “Advanced Therapies,” operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Altaris and is headquartered in the United States. This acquisition follows Altaris’ earlier purchase of Minaris Regenerative Medicine from Resonac Holdings Corporation in January 2025. Minaris is an established cell therapy CDMO with a global presence, including facilities in the U.S., Germany, and Japan.
Altaris, a New York-based investment firm with a 20-year track record of building healthcare companies, brings deep expertise to the table. With ownership of 11 medical product CDMOs and a focused strategy for scaling life sciences infrastructure, Altaris is uniquely positioned to support the next phase of growth for its advanced therapy ventures.
Now, the firm is merging Advanced Therapies and Minaris into a unified entity: Minaris Advanced Therapies.
The combined company is being announced in New Orleans at ISCT 2025. It will offer a powerful global manufacturing footprint, a deep well of scientific and regulatory expertise, and an end-to-end suite of capabilities to support the development and commercialization of cell therapies.
With operations in North America, Europe, and Asia, Minaris Advanced Therapies is expected to streamline development timelines, drive down manufacturing costs, and broaden access to life-saving treatments. The operational integration is slated for completion in the first half of 2025.
Altaris’ latest moves signal a clear commitment to advancing scalable, industrial-grade solutions for the cell and gene therapy sector—an area poised to grow over the next decade.
As the life sciences industry continues to evolve, attention will be on Minaris Advanced Therapies to provide cutting-edge, next-generation cell and gene therapy (CGT) CDMO services both in the U.S. and beyond.
