Google Trends is a supplemental service of Google Incorporated that analyzes trend data collected through Google Search.

It shows how often a particular search term is entered relative to total search-volume across various regions of the world and in various languages.

It is an absolutely incredible market research tool for assessing stem cell market dynamics, because it reflects real-time social behavior related to specific stem cell types and provides public access to Google’s online search information.

Regional Searches for Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)

Regional interest in the search term “mesenchymal stem cells” over a five-year history is shown in the map below.

The scaled numbers present on the right side represent search volume relative to the highest point on the map, which is always 100.

Interestingly, South Korea tops this list, again suggesting a favorable environment for MSC product development.

South Korea is followed relatively closely by China, which comes in second place with a score of 83 (relative to China’s score of 100).

After that, regional search interest in the term “mesenchymal stem cells” drops off substantially, with India winning third place.

Finally, the United States earns fourth place and the United Kingdom comes in fifth place.

City-Based Searches for Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs)

When the Google Trends data is searched by city instead of country, the findings are extremely interesting as well.

The first result is the Chinese city of Beijing.

In second place is the South Korean city of Seoul, the capital and largest metropolis of South Korea.

In third place is Iranian city of Tehran.

The first American city to make the list is Boston, which comes in at fourth place.
