Stay alert to the latest and greatest on stem cells. Enjoy this week’s “3 Bullet Thursday,” a weekly post that we do to update you on interesting and important findings within the world of stem cells.
- Japan approved its first ever allogeneic stem cell product.
- Canada made headlines after a cord blood donation became the first stem cell transplant among siblings from a public cord blood bank.
- Britain’s embryology regulator received an application to genetically modify an embryo, which would be the first since a Chinese attempt earlier this year.
Totally incredible.
Of course, progress with 3D printing of stem cells is also advancing with leaps and bounds.
*Note: Back in the early 2000’s, cord blood banking caught our attention in the same way, with little indicators suggesting that the market could take off. Now there are almost 500 cord blood banks worldwide. While it’s too early to tell, we will keep an eye on this emerging market segment. Stay tuned…
