Are You Attending the Axiogenesis iPSC Applications Workshop on September 7-9, 2016?

Axiogenesis iPSC Workshop 2016

Axiogenesis iPSC Workshop 2016

Recently, Axiogenesis hosted an American symposium titled, “iPSC Derived Cells & Assays Come of Age.” Held on June 13, 2016, in Boston, Massachusetts, the symposium explored the topic of establishing global standards for iPSC-derived cell products. Because the conversation is critical to a wide range of stem cell industry stakeholders, it was widely attended by representatives from across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and chemical sectors.

To further support this dialog within the global marketplace, Axiogenesis is hosting Human iPSC Applications Workshop in Cologne, Germany on September 7 – 9, 2016. It will be the fourth year that Axiogenesis has organized a workshop at its headquarters in Cologne.

Axiogenesis has successfully staged such user meetings since 2014, all of which represented an opportunity to get insights into iPSC applications, as well as a broad opportunity for networking. (View past Axiogenesis workshops here.)

Finally, it will offer time for networking and the exchange of ideas among attendees.

Featured Speakers at the Axiogenesis Applications Workshop

As in prior years, the upcoming workshop will feature several categories of presenters. This year, it will feature the individuals and companies highlighted below.

  1. Pharmaceutical customers, including Hua Rong Lu of Janssen Pharmaceuticals, and Stephan Bedut of Servier Laboratories
  2. CROs, including Paul Walker of Cyprotex, Benjamin Bader of Neuroproof, Marc Rogers of Metrion, and Richard Printemps of Physiostim
  3. Academic institutions, including Francesco Pasqualini of the Wyss Translational Center Zürich and Denise Franz of the University of Rostock
  4. Solution providers, including Vincent Milleret of Ectica and Ian Hayes of Luxcel

Combination of Live Demos and Live Applications Data

Importantly, the upcoming European workshop will include a combination of live demos and live applications data from pharmaceutical and CRO customers of Axiogenesis.

The performance of iPSC-derived cells will be shown live, providing immeasurable value both to individuals with and without experience handling iPSC-derived cells.  This unusual focus on live cell demonstrations will present attendees with the opportunity to discuss benefits and limitations of assays with other industry users, as well as offer the chance to observe live (“wet”) tests under laboratory conditions.

This year’s live demonstrations will include:
  1. Multi Electrode Array – New generations of the multiwell micro electrode arrays (MEA) from Axion Biosystems and Multi Channel Systems showcased using cardiomyocytes and neurons
  2. Impedance: Pure impedance measurements and impedance/field potential measurement combinations from ACEA and Nanion in cardiomyocytes .
  3. Optogenetics: Integration of optogenetic pacing using Channelrhodopsin-2 (ChR2) transfected Cor.4U cardiomyocytes on the Axion MEA and Nanion impedance systems
  4. HTS Calcium / Voltage Sensitive Dyes: HTS Calcium and voltage sensitive dyes analysis in neurons and cardiomyocytes on the Hamamatsu system
  5. Cardiac Cell Contractile Force Measurement: An in-house technology development of a multiwell system that measures the true force of cardiomyocytes, as well as smooth muscle cells and skeletal muscle cells.
  6. Cytotox / Mitotox Assay – Mitochondrial toxicity assay (Luxcel technology on BMG Labtech system) in cardiomyocytes

In addition to seeing live demonstrations of human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes and neurons in action on various applications, the upcoming workshop will inform attendees on how experts in the pharmaceutical industry and leading academic institutions are using Axiogenesis’ cells and assays in drug discovery, safety/toxicology screening, and bioengineering applications.

Because of the limitations of the live demonstrations, only 55 participants may attend and only a few spots now remain available. (Register here.)
