ORIG3N Executes DNA Testing on Nearly 450 XMed Attendees in Under 48 Hours

One biotech company put the mission of this week’s Exponential Medicine Conference to work by proving that is is possible to deliver real-time, accurate DNA testing. Exponential Medicine is a unique four-day conference that gathers world-class faculty, innovators and entrepreneurs from across the biomedical and technology spectrum to “explore the convergence of fast moving technologies.”

ORIG3N collected 450 voluntary check swap (nearly 60% of all conference attendees) to find out more about their genetic makeup. The kit profiled for six genes, three of which were new to ORIG3N, including:

• Risk behavior
• Longevity
• Language learning ability
• Caffeine metabolism
• Skin aging
• Folate levels

The DNA testing results were delivered in under two days and presented on stage at the conference.

ORIG3N is best known for building the world’s largest crowdsourced library of blood samples to support induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) research.

The cell repository, called LifeCapsule, is used to understand the cellular and molecular foundations of genetically inherited disease, with thousands of people already contributing blood samples to advance the future of medicine and human genome research.
