The annual election of the BMES Board of Directors, a process overseen by the BMES Nominating Committee, has recently concluded with the appointment of six accomplished individuals who will commence their board service following the Annual Meeting this fall. Dr. A.J. Mellott earned his doctorate in Bioengineering from the University of Kansas in 2014. He focused on genetically reprogramming human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells to become mechanosensory hair cells using non-viral methodologies. He went on to build a successful basic research program for the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In 2019, Dr. Mellott co-founded Ronawk to create 3D technologies that accelerate the development of next-generation therapies.
