Dr John Sessions memorial followed by Dr Gersavio Lamas lecture tonight, Wednesday, February 24, at 7:30pm ET.
MIAMI, February 22, 2021 – The American Academy of Stem Cell Physicians will be paying tribute to Dr. John Sessions (“Everyone’s Teacher”) on, Wednesday, February 24th at 7:30pm (Eastern).
Dr. John Sessions, DO was a neuromusculoskeletal medicine specialist in Kirbyville, TX, who practiced for 44 years. He graduated from University North Texas Health Science Center College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1974 and specialized in neuromusculoskeletal medicine, osteopathic manipulative therapy, and more. Dr Sessions passed away last Saturday, February 20th.
Dr. Sessions long time partner, Karla Bolton, MD said, “Dr. John Sessions was a true joy to work alongside in his practice for the last 3 years. His down to earth personality, witty, dry sense of humor, and innovative mind made going to work fun and something to look forward to each day. A good example of his sense of humor is how he often shared his passion for chelation with patients by explaining ‘chelation helps everything but glass eyes and false teeth.'”
He leaves a legacy of patients whose lives he touched and changed in such awe inspiring ways, as well as his contributions in mentoring other physicians to strive for cutting-edge methods to help their patients.
“Dr. Sessions saved my life” is a common thing to hear from his loyal patients who suffered with acute and chronic illnesses. One example is a patient told he would be dead in six-months without a heart transplant started chelation under Dr. Session’s care and is still alive and chopping wood after 18 years.
There are many other people who tell me that they or a loved one were given short time spans to live, and after being under his care, received another 10 or 15 years or more of life. Another common testimony are the numerous patients that tell me they were told that surgery was their only option for severe musculoskeletal pain, and after prolotherapy with Dr Sessions, they are still pain free 20 years later.
Such consistent and impressive improvements in people’s health resulted in patient confidence, trust, and the word of mouth testimonies that built his practice. I love to ask new patients, who drive hours for a consultation, how they heard about him. As expected, it may be a relative that referred them but not uncommonly it is friends from church, a massage therapist, a dental hygienist, or someone they met in the waiting room of their veterinarian’s office. Once a man from China flew to America for Dr. Sessions to perform Prolotherapy on his back from the referral of a friend.
Teaching was another passion for Dr. Sessions. He enjoyed both formal settings with various medical organizations and one-on-one rotations that he provided in his clinic. He was incredibly generous in sharing his medical knowledge, as well as his philosophy and passion for medicine.
“Dr. Sessions has been a blessing and inspiration in my life professionally and personally. He has changed who I am as a physician in a wonderful and meaningful way, and I will be forever grateful.”
Dr. A.J. Farshchian, a spokesperson for the The American Academy of Stem Cell Physicians (AASCP), earlier today said, “Dr. John Sessions taught all of us and was one of the key influencers in the rise of the regenerative medicine field. He started his regenerative medicine practice in the early 1970s and his passion never stopped. This is a big loss to the medical community, I will miss him so much.”
The memorial will be followed by a lecture presentation from Gervasio Lamas, MD. Dr. Lamas received his B.A. in Biochemical Sciences cum laude from Harvard College and his M.D. with honors (AOA) from New York University. Dr. Lamas completed his internship, residency, and training in Cardiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Harvard Medical School, where he also served on the faculty for nine years. Following his time at Harvard, Dr. Lamas was recruited by Mount Sinai as Chief of Cardiology in 1993. In 2009 he inaugurated the Columbia University Division of Cardiology at Mount Sinai and was appointed Professor of Medicine at Columbia. He was appointed Chairman of Medicine in 2011. In these positions, Dr. Lamas has trained and mentored dozens of cardiologists in our community and beyond. Over the last 20 years, he has carried out federally – funded research on the effects of toxic metal pollutants, such as lead, heart disease, and the benefits of removing these from the human body (see www.tact2.org). Dr. Lamas has published over 200 peer-review articles in leading journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association, Circulation, and the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
Darcy DiFede, RN, BSN, FAHA, director of research is excited to announce Dr. Aubrey de Grey, Ph.D as our next AASCP lecturer, March 3rd 2021. Dr. Aubrey de Grey is a biomedical gerontologist based in Mountain View, California, USA, and is the Chief Science Officer of SENS Research Foundation, a California-based 501(c)(3) biomedical research charity that performs and funds laboratory research dedicated to combating aging. In addition, he is Editor-in-Chief of Rejuvenation Research, the world’s highest-impact peer-reviewed journal focused on intervention in aging. He received his BA in computer science and Ph.D. in biology from the University of Cambridge. His research interests encompass the characterization of all the types of self-inflicted cellular and molecular damage that constitute mammalian aging and the design of interventions to repair and/or obviate that damage.
Dr. de Grey is a Fellow of both the Gerontological Society of America and the American Aging Association, and sits on the editorial and scientific advisory boards of numerous journals and organizations. He is a highly sought-after speaker who gives 40-50 invited talks per year at scientific conferences, universities, companies in areas ranging from pharma to life insurance, and to the public.
